Over the weekend a school resource officer, Joy Smith, from Rockmart Georgia (Polk County) was arrested on charges of DUI (according to Fox 5 news).
During the arrest the officers noted that there was a strong odor of alcohol and admitted to have been drinking all night. Her pull over or stop stemmed from, what the officers noted, as failing to dim her headlights and failure to maintain her lane.
After the officers finished their battery of tests they informed Ms. Smith that she was under arrest. At that point, according to the officers, she stated “are you serious I’m one of you guys?” This happened over the weekend of St. Patrick’s day where officers are more aggressive for DUI arrests. With everything that goes on for St. Patrick’s day parties, some people either lose track or don’t keep count of their alcohol intake. With police being aggressive, or more aggressive, for DUI arrests, it means that more people, including people who thought they would get a pass, are finding themselves the subject of investigations by the police.
