Why a battery or assault charge can ruin everything

Posted by Michael D. Barber | Apr 19, 2019 | 0 Comments

Simple Battery can happen to anyone and the effect it has can be devastating for the rest of your live.

On march 2, 2019 Defensive Back for the Georgia Bulldogs Latavious Brini for Simple Battery (according to 247Sports).

Many people don't realize that the crime of Simple Battery can happen to anyone, and in this example, including police officers. The offense of Simple Battery is defined by the statute from O.C.G.A. 16-5-23 and Battery is defined in O.C.G.A. 16-5-23.1. In part, these statute states that a person commits the offense of simple battery when they intentionally make physical contact of insulting or provoking nature or causes harm to another.

Because Brini now has to deal with a Battery charge, he won't be able to concentrate all his efforts in school or on the football field. Instead he will now be dealing with the state court system regarding the new charges he faces. If he isn't able to handle them correctly, it may affect the rest of his career both in school and any potential recruiters for National Football. Now as a result of this charge, Brini may be losing everything he has worked so hard to accomplish.

Of course there are facts to every case where defenses can be raised for anyone charged with the crimes of Simple Battery or Battery. Each situation is different from the other and requires a evaluation of all the information in order to properly mount a defense and a effective negotiation with the prosecutors office.
